This is my passion project Dissociatrix, where I both heal myself by writing and educate about DID, trauma and disabilities!
My name is Trix and I'm an educator about DID (dissociative identity disorder) and living with disabilities online. I'm also a multi-creative artist who works with visual art, music, coding, writing etc.
I'm currently studying for a Bachelor in Divinity and also training to become a holistic therapist. I have several life coaching certifications as well and is always educating myself.
I'm mixing spiritual and traditional tools for trauma healing, but important to remember is that I use spirituality to heal alongside evidence-based practices and I use them as helpful tools with "psychology first" - not from a way of "religion first".
This means that I come from a trauma-informed perspective and not from religion as a basis for what I do. I just happen to be an educator who also is spiritual - not a religious leader. I'm LGBTQ+ affirming, pro-choice, and have a feminist view of the world. All people with trauma are welcome here, I don't want to scare away people because of the spirituality!
Why this website?
I'm writing and sharing this content on this website to heal. Its purpose is twofold: it's a place for me to express myself but also a place for others to learn about disability and DID.
My indie web philosophy!
Also, I've always had a passion for coding and creating things for the indie web. That's why I have this retro-style website which I've coded myself, instead of a boring and modern drag-n-drop editor site like Wix or Squarespace or similar. No hate to these, but I feel like I can express myself more freely when I code from Scratch than when I'm asked to conform to a site-builder.
Regarding my blogging... I use Bearblog to host my blog, and that is because I'm tired of big tech companies owning the majority of the web, like WordPress and all the other giants. I much rather prefer a more small/independent team and the ability to back-up my stuff and move if I later want that. That's why I work with specifically Neocities as a home for Dissociatrix as well.
